30th September 2009

Great news from the USA - our mates from the last two USA tours, Prima Donna have secured a slightly bigger gig than ours.
They are the main support to GREEN DAY on their current Euro tour. Nice work boys.
If you get a chance (and manage to get a ticket!) you can see them across the UK.

23rd September 2009

We had a great time in Guernsey at The Fermain Tavern.
Big thanks to Derrick and Helen from Rawkuz Crowz and especially to Chris Staples, who runs this very Rock n Roll venue, for a very probably life threatening weekend!
Seriously - totally recommended to any band considering making the trip. A review from the Guernsey Press can be read HERE.

25th June 2009

A couple of dates for the diary that we think look interesting...

Saturday 4th July at The Square, Harlow - we shall be celebrating the first anniversary of the reborn venue, along side Billy Lunn from The Subways and Bite, an excellent young local band. The doors are at 8pm and bar/DJ until 3am.
Tickets are £8adv and available here:

Friday 24th July we are at The Forum in Kentish Town as part of The Kids Are Alright Festival.
Headline act is From The Jam featuring Bruce Foxton, Rick Buckler and Russel Hastings.

7th June 2009

The dust has settled behind us after another great USA Tour. Lou at Streetcore Talent did a typically excellent job of booking and driving for the tour, during which time we covered about 8000 miles we think. Cheers Lou!
Saw a lot of old friends, met a lot of new ones and had a brilliant couple of bands on the road with us -
Prima Donna and Johnny Madcap & The Distractions
Follow the links to their MySpace sites and have a listen. BIG THANKS TO THEM AND ALSO TO ALL OF THE OTHER BANDS WHO APPEARED WITH US! It certainly won't be the last time we shall be working with these guys as there are already plans for them to contribute a song for the next Hot Rods album...speaking of which...

Work has already begun, writing and demo recording for a NEW album which, if all goes according to plan (ha!) will be completed by the end of the year. In addition to this, we are currently mixing the material from our recent NEW YORK show at SOUTHPAW in BROOKLYN. This should appear as a merchandise item at live shows next month.

Should have some tour photos on the site soon - see you at a show soon folks.

10th April 2009

Another change of venue (is it something we said?)
WED 6th MAY - Asbury Park, NJ - Asbury Lanes

3rd March 2009

There has been a change of Date/Venue for the opening show.
The Tour will still start in Seattle but, due to a problem with the original venue closing (never a good thing), the show will now be on
TUESDAY 21st APRIL at El Corazon.

4th February 2009

The dates have been announced for the first USA Tour of 2009.
The band will be making their way from left to right in the company of
Primadonna, The Cute Lepers, Poison Arrows and at a couple of shows, by The Vibrators.
Running from April 22nd until May 9th, the dates are now posted HERE

24th November 2008

Some great photographs of the recent Cabaret Vert Festival in France, featuring Supersub Bassist Christy Holgarth, are now on site and can be viewed HERE

16th September 2008

CANCELLATION
Sorry folks - another Brummie gig bites the dust - this time, before we had a chance to play it!
The Asylum have decided that the future is in Metaltastic Disco and our Oct 11th date has been cancelled.

On a more positive note...They are not bored with The Rods quite yet in the USA, having just returned from the LA-NY tour with another for next year already being booked!

"Everyone, from the Promoters (Lou @ Streetcore - top man!) to the Billys had such great enthusiasm for live music, it was totally worth the deep-arse thrombosis we risked from the ridiculous drives to play the shows. We even enjoyed the hurricane in Chicago, we were that happy..." says Barrie.

There are still plenty of good shows here though and since returning, Aylesbury 'Hobble on the Cobbles' has been a highlight. Big stage at one end of the old Market Square surrounded by pubs, makes a brilliant setting for the gig and the crowds turned out in force for the all day festival.
The Great British Blues Festival in Colne was another excellent night out, with Nine Below Zero and Dr Feelgood on the bill.

Next up is a trip to the North East for a couple of shows -
Fri 26 Gateshead, The Three Tuns and Sat 27 Crook Town FC in Co Durham.

A special mention has to be made about a gig on OCTOBER 3rd at THE SQUARE in HARLOW. Now, we have been told that this is possibly the finest small venue in the country and we think that is almost certainly true. The reason for mentioning this is nothing to do with the new owner (whichever guitarist he is) - it just had to be pointed out...

10th May 2008

An interview filmed with the band during their recent run of shows in France can be found HERE.
The site, www.rock-interviews.com also features a chat with The Stranglers, Status Quo and New Model Army amongst others.

6th May 2008

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LONDON ASTORIA 2 SHOW WITH DR FEELGOOD, ON SAT 10th MAY, IS AN EARLY ONE.

The Rods will be ON STAGE at 7pm, so those out there with tickets who, quite reasonably, would expect to get another couple of pints in at The Royal George, be warned....

24th April 2008

A new book chronicling the history of Eddie and the Hot Rods is to be published next month.
"Do Anything You Wanna Do" (what else!) written by Steve Crancher, will be launched on May 3rd at Waterstones book shop (Royals branch) in Southend on Sea. Original members, Barrie Masters (who still fronts the band), guitarist Dave Higgs and drummer Steve Nichol will all be there to sign copies of the book between 12pm and 1pm.

If you miss them at Waterstones, you can always grab a copy that evening when the band play The Riga Music Bar in Westcliff-On-Sea. It is also available from Amazon.

17th March 2008

DATE CHANGE - Sorry folks...due to a diary mix up, our 100 Club gig on April 11/18th (depending on whose websit you read!) has been postponed. Chas and Dave will still be bashing 'em out though - highly recommended!

6th February 2008

TOUR NEWS: This year will see Eddie and the Hot Rods tour in France and Sweden, as well as the USA.
The dates are now up on the Gig List. The July/August American tour may change shape a little in the next couple of weeks but we will get all the details posted as soon as they are confirmed.
The Swedish tour in March is now in place and we are very much looking forward to the first dates there for many years.

We have also added some photos by Dr Feelgood webmistress Gabi Schwanke, taken at the Skegness Rock and Blues Festival in January (which was 'kin excellent fun - thanks to all).

22nd January 2008

LATE NOTICE GIG IN STOCKTON-ON-TEES - and it's a beer festival! Friday Feb 8th at The Arc in Stockton. We will be on stage at about 8pm. More details of the Stockton Beer Festival on the Cleveland C.A.M.R.A website.

1st January 2008

A very Happy New Year to you all...and thank you to everyone at the Wild at Heart club in Berlin for making it pretty damn good so far...

If you have got a eye/ear for such things, we hear that there is quite a sale of Eddie & the Hot Rods vinyl and memorabilia happening on ebay at the moment - ebay seller ID is barracuda_uk. We do know the seller and both he and his stuff are genuine! Hopefully, if you CLICK HERE, it will take you right to the good stuff...

One other thing - YES, we are playing at the Rock and Blues Festival in Skegness this year on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th (special set). There has been some confusion in the past and we seem to have fallen off the advertising for this year as well...

6th December 2006

BBC Radio 2 - Thirty Years of Punk.
Part one was aired on Saturday 2nd December and an edited clip of Barrie and John Lydon, giving their account of the notorious Rods v Sex Pistols 'bust up', can be heard HERE.
The full program can be heard on the BBC listen again website.

20th November 2006

The band were recently asked if they would share their many years of experience in the business, with the next generation of would be rocknrollers. They were invited into the Longcroft School and Performing Arts College in Beverly, to stage a music workshop with a group of pupils interested in making music. The two hour session was followed up with an afternoon performance by a 'supergroup' involving the pupils and Rods and then by another show that evening, to help raise money for the BBC Children in Need event.
The workshop proved to be one of the most enjoyable 'gigs' of the year and the band would like to thank the pupils and staff at Longcroft for making it so.
The Hull Evening Post website has a written article and a video report (launch the Video Console and look for the “Pupils get tips from HotRods”).

15th Nov 2006

Cherry Red Records have a new on-line shop for classic Hot Rods MP3's including the albums "Do Anything You Wanna Do" and "Gasoline Days". Check it out HERE.

14th Nov 2006

Barrie has just finished recording his contribution to a BBC Radio 2 celebration of the rock/punk scene in 1976. He was interviewed along with Pete Shelley and John Lydon last week, to be included in the first episode of the two part programme due for transmission on December 2nd.

Some new photographs of the Rods on their travels are now on the Downloads and Photos page of this site. They were taken by our (almost) resident photographer, Tony Nicholls, during recent gigs at the Le Mans 24hr race and the 100 Club.

It is also worth mentioning that due to an embarrassing oversight, Tony was not credited with his work on the latest Hot Rods album, "Been There, Done That...". He took not only the cover shot, but every other photo on the sleeve too, so, quite an oversight really...
You can see more of his excellent work by clicking HERE and visiting his web site. How's that Tony..?

28th Sept 2006

Radio appearances just in...

Barrie will be having a chat with Julia Hankin of BBC Radio Newcastle, on Friday 29th September, just after 3.p.m.
The band will be playing a live acoustic session on Robert Elms BBC Radio London show, on Friday 13th October between 2pm and 3pm.
For those not in the broadcast area, click on the links and listen on line, or on Digital radio and TV.

11th Sept 2006

A bit of a mixed up month...The band should have been in Japan at present but unfortunately, we have been let down badly by the promoter (Emajan - beware UK bands!!). We can only apologise to our friends in Japan who we have had to disappoint, but hopefully we can arrange some dates with a reputable firm early next year.
The knock on effect means that we are also forced to postpone our USA tour, which followed almost immediately!
This is obviously a real blow to our plans for the latter part of 2006 and has left a big hole in our diary, so if you were looking to come along to any of the gigs - sorry, it's really not our fault - but, if you were thinking of booking the band for that period but thought we were unavailable, please get in touch : bookings@eddieandthehotrods.com . We may be able to sort something out.
Anyway - heads up news... The new album Been There, Done That... is now available, as well as the DVD, Live 2005 and thanks to Emajan, we also have a limited number of the live CD, Right for the Night, on sale at gigs and the merchandise section of this site. This was originally intended as a Japan only release on Voiceprint (Japan) but for obvious reasons, it has now (perhaps) become a collectors item!
Next date for the diary is now Sat 23rd September - Durham Punk Festival (01913830745).

30th July 2006

***NEW ALBUM RELEASE DATE***

Been There, Done That..., the new album, is set for release on 4th SEPTEMBER. Along with the DVD Live 2005 it will be available from Voiceprint, the merchandise section on this website as well as all major outlets (it may be neccessary to place an order at some stores).

1st June 2006

The Live 2005 DVD is now available from the Voiceprint shop and will soon be followed by the new studio album, Been There, Done That..., which is in the final stages of production. In addition (should you live in Japan), a limited number of live compilation CD's, Right for the Night, are about to made available. This release - on the Voiceprint Japan label - will contain 14 live tracks, both classic and new, from performances in 2005. Available in all good (Japanese) record shops (and probably ebay, we suspect)...

9th April 2006

The release date for the Live 2005 DVD has now been set for May 29th. It will be available from Voiceprint, the merchandise section on this website and all good record shops blah blah. Barring any unexpected hold-ups, the new album, Been There, Done That... will be released shortly afterwards.

27th March 2006

The band have just returned from Foel Studios in Wales, with a 14 track album in the can. It features 12 brand new songs, including "Why Should I Care" and "Really Happy Now", which some of you may already know from the live show. Also included is a totally balls out version of Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild". A release date will be announced soon.

15th March 2006

MY SPACE - Eddie and the Hot Rods have now been added to the MySpace myspace.com circus. Check it out HERE.

14th Feburary 2006

The band are due to start recording their brand new album, provisionally entitled 'Been There', in March. Two weeks in a studio on a Welsh hillside, should focus the mind on the twelve new songs (so far) that will make up the second, all new album in as many years. Hopefully, this should be available by the end of May.

The live DVD recorded at the Mean Fiddler has been slightly delayed but should be released soon, so please watch this space for details.

Some new photographs taken by Tony Nicholls at Sheffield's Boardwalk, have now been added.
